We know there's tons of money in horse racing but how many of the owners can claim to be billionaires? The Wertheimer brothers are the richest horse racing owners around with a £19billion fortune thanks to their control in the French fashion giant, Chanel.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum (also known as the current ruler of Dubai) owns GoDolphin stable and also tops the list.
DraftKings Launches Horse-Racing App in 12 States
DraftKings, the popular sports betting company, is has launched a new app for horse racing. The app will allow users to bet on horse racing events from all over the world, with a variety of betting options available.
Currently, the app is availabe in Colorado, Florida, Indiana, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Montanta, Oregon, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, and Wyoming.
Now if we could just get a football parlay into a Pick-3 at Hawthorne…
Colonial Downs is on Fire!
The team at Colonial Downs race track in New Kent prepared for the upcoming 2023 horse racing season by igniting the iconic Secretariat Turf Course on Tuesday, March 28.
The Colonial Downs team collaborated with the New Kent Fire Department to set fire to the Secretariat Turf Course. However, due to Virginia's burn law that prohibits open flames before 4 p.m., they waited until just after 4 p.m. to begin. Within two hours, the flames had effectively burned the old layer of grass, which is a crucial step in preparing the course's foundation for the upcoming season.

HISA is Here
On March 27, the Anti-Doping and Medication Control (ADMC) Program through the Horseracing Integrity and Safety Authority (HISA) officially launched, marking the first nationwide anti-doping program in thoroughbred racing.
The program was approved by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and will be enforced by the Horseracing Integrity & Welfare Unit of Drug Free Sport International.
The ADMC Program includes centralized testing and harmonization among laboratories to test for the same substances at the same concentrations, ensuring a consistent and fair approach to anti-doping efforts in horse racing. Lisa Lazarus, CEO of HISA, explained these details in a newsletter on March 14.
Modern Games will return in Maker's Mark Mile at Keeneland
Modern Games, last year's champion turf male after winning the Breeders' Cup Mile, is slated to return to Keeneland from his Ireland base for his 2023 debut.
Godolphin, which bred and owns the 4-year-old son of Dubawi, announced the plan in a Twitter post, said he will start in the Maker's Mark Mile on April 14. Read the full story at HRN.
